You might have heard about Heckler & Koch’s lawsuit against German Sport Guns and American Tactical Imports regarding the GSG-5 .22-caliber carbine. Well, it’s been settled. Here’s ATI’s presser on the matter:
October 12, 2009
Re: Heckler and Koch, Inc. vs. German Sport Guns GmbH, American Tactical Imports,
Inc. Civil Action No. 1 : 09-cv-00039-WTL-JMS (S.D. Indiana)
For immediate release,
We are very pleased to report that the litigation filed by Heckler & Koch, Inc. against
German Sport Guns GmbH and its U.S. distributor, American Tactical Imports, Inc.,
together with all counterclaims, has been settled.
The terms of the settlement are confidential to the parties and cannot be disclosed. A
dismissal of the above-referenced litigation, and all of the party’s claims against each
other, is expected to be filed in the near future.
Attorneys for H&K will be issuing a statement. The attorneys for ATI have already
issued a statement announcing the settlement.
Production and importation of the original design GSG-5 ceased as of Oct, 8, 2009 with
the signing of the agreement. The remaining inventory now in the USA can be sold by
ATI, all distributors and dealers. ATI currently has GSG-5’s in stock.
All sales of the GSG-5 by ATI must conclude by January 31, 2010. ATI will continue to
service every firearm that it imports into the USA.
Thank you for your support.

New Marine Corps Firearm?
Posted by EdFriedman2, Oct 15 2009, 07:13 PM
Looks like the Marines will announce the winner of its lightweight automatic rifle competition as soon as the end of October.
For a host of information on the different designs involved and the reasons behind the launch of this new, intermediate gun between the M16 and the SAW, check out The Firearm Blog.
This could be a fairly earth-shattering development and could be yet another point of contention between the Corps and the Army. We could know very soon.

PSH in NYC

Looks like some poor sap on Staten Island got caught with the dreaded “arsenal”. The guy had 19 guns, and he certainly should have got them licensed per the draconian NYC laws, but 19 guns do not an arsenal make. And he only had a few hundred rounds of ammunition? Perhaps he should be jailed for being woefully unprepared…
Someone really should explain to journalists the concept of ammunition. Once you shoot a round, you need more, or you have 19 unwieldy clubs. With 19 guns, one should have at least 2,000 rounds. This guy and the credulous reporter both need to spend more time at the range.

As our Dear Leader heads to Copenhagen to ensure the peaceful, piously managed city of Chicago gets to have a splendid little orgy of corruption host the 2016 Olympic Games, I ponder where the shooting competitions are to be held? After all, Chicago is less safe than Baghdad such a safe city because it bans guns, and those swarthy Bulgarian air pistol champions might be up to no good. As opposed to the citizens of Chicago, who never beat anyone to death in broad daylight, without the need for firearms, I might add. Aren’t you just full of the Olympic Spirit? Yippeee!

Steve over at The Firearm Blog is some kind of secret agent man. He gets info from arms bazaars in Lahore, trade magazines in Tashkent and various other sources from places I’d rather not visit.
Today, Steve brings to our attention new civilian AK variants from Polish manufacturer FB Radom. The company will have a booth at SHOT Show in Vegas in January. I will be stopping by…
Our Pain Has Gone Mainstream

Featured story on Yahoo! last night: Historic U.S. bullet shortage.
I’ll cut them some slack for not knowing the difference between a bullet and ammunition in general, as the article is good and relatively unbiased.
Now that our anguish is mainstream, maybe we can get some sort of federal bailout to ease our suffering.

Looks like South Korea (ROK) plans to sell about 100,000 vintage firearms to American collectors. Around 86,000 Garands and 22,000 M1 Carbines should be hitting the market soon. The guns were originally made in the U.S. and given to the ROK in the 1950s to help it keep the Norks in the North. Maybe this bundle of goodies will drive prices down some so I can finally pick up a Garand. Of course, then I’d need ammo…
