Detroit City Councilman Carries
Posted by EdFriedman2, Nov 19 2009, 03:43 PMHe says he’s trying to cash-in on the free publicity, but I’ll help him anyway. He does support our rights, and in Detroit, one can’t blame him for wanting some protection.
Briefs Filed in Chicago Gun Case
Posted by EdFriedman2, Nov 17 2009, 03:48 PM
Petitioner's brief can be found here.
Also, the NRA’s brief as a Respondent in Support of the Petitioner can be found here.
This is a vitally important follow-on to the historic Heller decision. If the court decides in favor of the petitioners, there will be no denying our natural right—recognized by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution—to keep and bear arms applies to all Americans.

In related news, today is the NRA’s 138th birthday. Happy birthday to us!

New AK!
Posted by EdFriedman2, Nov 16 2009, 05:01 PM
Izhmash has introduced an AK variant with rails! That’s good news for AK fans who want to mount optics in a sensible configuration.
Of course, Izhmash AKs tend to be more expensive than, say a WASR-10, which itself is less costly than just about any optic you’d put on a tactical rifle. Still, it’s a welcome development. That said, if this is the best Izhmash can do innovation-wise, it might explain the company’s flirt with bankruptcy earlier this year.

Call of Duty
Posted by EdFriedman2, Nov 16 2009, 02:39 PMI, like many other losers, picked up Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 last Tuesday. The Call of Duty series has been fairly meticulous with its firearms showcase. Every gun is test fired and recorded so that it sounds and behaves in a manner similar to real life. Therefore, I was rather excited to see that the Bushmaster ACR is featured. If the real gun is at all like the gun in the game, it will be fan-friggin-tastic. It appears to have less recoil than the SCAR (also in the game and quite accurately portrayed), perhaps because it doesn’t have a small van for a bolt-carrier group. Anyway, I’m looking forward to shooting an ACR ASAP.
How Convenient
Posted by EdFriedman2, Nov 12 2009, 05:57 PMVenezuela destroyed 30,000 guns seized from the “streets” in an effort to reduce crime. Or so they say. Odd how there are now 30,000 fewer means of getting in the way of that country’s dictator, the disgusting Hugo Chavez, as he moves to completely control everyone and everything.
Happy Birthday Marine Corps

Ft. Hood
Posted by EdFriedman2, Nov 10 2009, 02:00 PM
Let us never forget the heroes of Ft. Hood, including this wounded soldier and his wife (scroll down). The soldier was due to deploy to Afghanistan in January and apparently will still be going, despite his wounds. When asked how she felt about that, his wife said: “At least he’s safe there and he can fire back, right?”
What a sad situation where an American soldier, a guardian of our freedom, is forced to go to a war zone should he wish to defend himself.

Veterans Day Slideshow
Posted by EdFriedman2, Nov 5 2009, 04:16 PM
GunsAndHunting.com is running a very nice tribute for Veterans Day. Go check it out. If you know any veterans in the D.C. area, make sure they know about the NRA Range event on November 10; they’re invited to shoot for free, but space is limited, so they should contact the range ASAP to reserve a spot.
It was great to see ads during game six of the World Series last night supporting our veterans. Applebee’s is offering a free entrée to all veterans and active duty servicemen and women on Veterans Day.
Also, check out the USS New York, set to be commissioned this weekend in the Hudson River. The bow of the ship was made of steel from the World Trade Center. I saw a report indicating that twice as many sailors than necessary volunteered to serve on the ship.
Most of all, don’t forget to thank a veteran. Our liberty exists because of them.
